Coming Out On Top - U.S. Amateur Preliminary Round Victory
On the weekend of September 22-23, 2007, Tony Williams, local drummer and
APA player, participated in and won his Preliminary Round of the 14th Annual U.
S. Amateur Championship held in Richmond, VA. By winning his Preliminary
Round, Tony earned his way into the U.S. Amateur Championship Round to be
held in Atlanta, GA on November 2-4, 2007.

Only a small percentage of the best amateur players choose to play for the glory
and love of the game. Those who participated in the event experienced the
highest level of amateur billiard play in the United States. Therefore, the U.S.
Amateur Championship is intended for the finest amateur players. The
competition is relentless, and every match won is well deserved as Tony
experienced on his road to victory. ” Tony attributes some of his success to Steve
Lee (BCA Certified Instructor, owner of Raleigh Billiard Academy, and fellow APA
player) for the time spent working on certain aspects of his game prior to the
Preliminary Round of competition. “All players can benefit from a lesson or two
from Steve, no matter what skill level they may be. He helped me a lot in working
on my game prior to the tournament,” Williams stated.
